Summer Natural Dyeing with Plants and Flowers, 19th JUNE 10am-2pm
19th of June 10am-2pm
Field Farm, Coldharbour Road, Iden Green, TN17 4HF
Come to the East Sussex countryside and delve into the world of natural dyeing with me.
Using local plants and flowers you’ll learn how to create dyes, prepare fabrics effectively for dyeing.
The workshop will be held in the beautiful barn, in the village called Iden Green.
Showing fabrics, tools, plants and dyed examples , I will give an introduction to the world of natural dyeing and what’s possible. I will discuss different types of fabrics and how they need to be prepared for dyeing.
You will all create your own dye as well as use already prepared dyes by me. You will be given different swatches of fabrics to experiment with including a bigger pieces of fabric in order to make a small garment at home.
While waiting for the fabrics to take the dye and mature, you will have a go at flowers and plants pounding technique by creating a little summer scarf.
During the day you will be offered light snacks, cakes, tea and coffee.
It is an outdoor barn and even though it will be a summer day, it could get a bit chilly, so please wear some light layers and clothes that you don’t mind getting marked or bring an apron.
Looking forward to meeting you!
